New PlayStation & Xbox console for 2017. Specs & More - Which is Better?

If you own a console, whether it's an Xbox 1, a PS4, or even both! Then you probably heard of the "rumored" PS4K/neo and the not so recently announced Xbox Scorpio. We're going to take a look at both of these consoles, after all that's said and done we'll try to figure out which console will be the best in a technological point of view.

Keep in mind that none of this is 100% official because a lot could change before the consoles are actually released. 

I will be updating this site as more info comes out, so make sure to check back occasionally.

Xbox Scorpio 

Estimated release date: Late 2017

Price: Still under discussion but possibly more than the Xbox 1

Peak performance: Targeting 6 teraflops (4.68 more than the Xbox1) , this would make it 1.5 times faster than the ps4k

Compatible with the original Xbox 1? Yes

New controller? Yes, under development

4K Playback? Most likely since the Xbox 1 slim is rumored to have 4K playback capabilities

VR(virtual reality) support? Yes, possibly with the Oculus Rift 

Improved GPU? Yes

From the info we have this would make the Xbox Scorpio 4 times as powerful than the Xbox 1.

Note: There is less info on the Xbox Scorpio due to it being announced after the ps4.

PlayStation 4k / PS4 Neo or PS4.5  

Estimated release date: 2017

Price: Still under discussion but possibly more than the PS4

Peak performance at 4.14 teraflops (2.3 more teraflops than the PS4)

Compatible with the original ps4? Yes

New controller? Uknown

4K Playback: Yes

VR(virtual reality) support? Yes , with the PlayStation VR

Improved GPU? Yes

Clock speed: 2.1 GHz (.5GHz more than the PS4)

AMD GCN: 36 Compute Units runnning at 911 MHz (Double than that of the PS4's)

GDDR5 Memory: 8GB , so 218GB/s (~24% faster than PS4)

Exclusives? No. Sony doesn't want to divide their user base  

All this would make the PS4K about two times as powerful than the ps4.

Which console will be more powerful?

It seems that Microsoft is really aiming to beat Sony's PS4k with the Xbox Scorpio, this is most likely because the PS4 was superior in almost all technological aspects than the Xbox 1 which affected Microsoft's sales in a negative way. So it's safe to assume that the Xbox Scorpio will probably be more powerful than the PS4K, not only because Microsoft is eager to take the lead but also because Microsoft is targeting a peak performance of 6 teraflops(some rumors say 10) instead of Sony's peak performance of 4.14 teraflops. For now it seems like Xbox Scorpio will outperform the PS4k.
